McWhinney beat out Conroe 8-3, then Somerville to then play Jones. In the finals, Jones and McWhinney fought it out in the first set with Jones winning 6-4. Jones dominated the second set 6-2 to win first place and McWhinney took second. Sophomores Kim Le, ranked #4, and Alex Pretto, ranked #5, competed in the Girls Doubles Division as new partners.
They played a long first match against A&M
Consolidated winning 8-6. Next they battled it out with Conroe spliting
sets 4-6 and 6-2. They went on to win the tiebreaker for the third set
10-7, and made it to the finals where they were up against a strong
Somerville team. Le and Pretto fought hard and ultimately lost 5-7, 5-7
to win second place medals.
