The Road-e-o consists of 12 events, including parallel parking, straight line (aligning the bus to allow front and rear dual wheels to travel between a row of tennis balls without disturbing them) and a written exam.

Ebanks and the second- through fourth-place finishers won a parking space, plaque and various other prizes.

Shirley Montgomery of the Telge Transportation Center placed second; Helen Nixon of the Eldridge Transportation Center placed third; and Virginia Landa of the Eldridge Center placed fourth. Driver Marcela Southerland of the Eldridge Center placed fifth and will be an alternate at the regional competition.

The four drivers qualified for the Gulf Coast Chapter of the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation (TAPT) School Bus Safety Road-e-o competition on Saturday, April 10 at the Houston ISD Northwest Transportation Center (6351 Pinemont Dr.). The top three in the regional competition will compete at the 37th Annual TAPT Annual Conference and Equipment Show, June 18 in Arlington.

Additionally, three CFISD teams qualified for the regional Special Needs Road-e-o: Clayton Terry and Shelly Johnson, Eldridge Center; Art Thomas and Emma Brooks, Eldridge and Barker Centers; and Phyllis Thomas and Linda Hair, Eldridge Center.
