Three Cypress Woods High School theatre students qualified for the
International Thespian Convention—scheduled for June in Lincoln,
Neb.—for their performances at the Texas State Thespian Convention in
Corpus Christi in November.
Seniors Katie Bennett and Allison
Houser received second place ratings on their Duet performance of
“August Osage County” by Tracy Letts.
Similarly, senior Austin
Crow qualified for the International Thespian Convention with his solo
pantomime, which also placed second.
Bennett and Houser were also
recognized by the society for their outstanding work, and each has been
awarded a scholarship to pursue a theatre arts degree. Overall, Cypress
Woods garnered two of the 10 acting scholarships awarded to Texas high
school students at the competition.
