2 hr CE for Insurance, Human Resource, Accounting, & Legal Professionals

The purpose of this educational session is to review the criteria of health flexible spending arrangements, health reimbursement arrangements, and health savings accounts - how they are established and run, some of the best practices, and some of the most common mistakes.

We will also discuss what is new in each program - new medical expenses eligible for reimbursement under Code Sec. 213(d), special protection for employers including Benefit Card technology, and what may be changing for flex plans in the near future such as removal of the "use it or lose it" provision.

We will also provide a side-by-side comparison of the programs - how they are similar; how they are different and the advantages and disadvantages of each. And how some changes to the plans may make them look even MORE alike!

And we have MAJOR changes that went into effect for HSAs. The "beauty" of these programs has really been enhanced, but they still might not work for you or your employees.

Our speaker is Ouida Peterson, owner of ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING and part-owner of CompLink, a COBRA and HIPAA Administrative Service. Her business time is shared with public speaking engagements and insurance sales and consulting.

Ms. Peterson has been involved with the COBRA and HIPAA regulations since their introduction. Her 23 years of working for Blue Cross and Blue Shield and in the Agent community has given her much of the practical knowledge needed to administer these programs.

She has received the NAHU Distinguished Service Award and numerous Texas Association of Health Underwriter service awards including the Outstanding Texan of the Year and in 2000, the Association's most coveted honor of recognition, the Hollis Roberson Award. She is recognized as a Charter Board Member of the National Association's Education Foundation and has served on the State Association Board since 1993.
